Efforts and Hard Works

Doa seorang ibu itu pasti akan selalu dijabah Allah. 4 weeks ago I had an interview with this hotel to be Front of the House Supervisor. I was interviewed by 4 different managers. Unfortunately, I was told that they already got someone else for that position.

I was very sad and disappointed. I have always wanted to get the position because they offer the opportunity to work in Front of the House, Housekeeping, and Revenue Management. I have looked for this kind of opportunity since last year. But I didn’t get it.

I called my mom who was sick and talked to her. I told her that I really want to work for his hotel but I haven’t got the opportunity. And I told her “ would you please pray for me so I get the job that I have been dreaming? I really want this job”. I could hear her smiling and she said “ why would not I pray for you? I always pray for you so you get the best.” I smiled and said “ Ibu, I know you don’t really want me to be far away from you for the next one year especially if I go to the US, and maybe that is the reason why I didn’t get the job. Instead, I get another job from 2 different hotels - Marriott ( Louisville) & Westin (Colorado) - but I don’t think it is challenging for me, would you please pray for me because I always believe that whenever you pray something for me, it always comes true, just like the scholarship”

The next day, I got an email from the hotel they told me that they would like to have another interview with me if I am interested to be a HK Supervisor. I asked them if the position has the same opportunity like Front of the House Supervisor to be rotated in Revenue Management as well. They said yes, it is the same, if I get accepted, I will be rotated as Front of the House Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor, and Revenue Management Analysts.

I answered them directly and said yes I would love to have another interview.

I did not know the result until now ..

To those of you who might have a hard time achieving your dreams, don’t forget to ask your mom to pray for you ...

Also, don’t forget that we get what we deserve.

We tend to have big dreams but mostly we give up so easily even we are not half way there yet. That is one of the reasons why we fail in achieving our goals or making our dream comes true. We have higher expectation of something but we don’t really work hard on it.

I failed 3 or 4 times when I apply for 4 different kinds of scholarships until I get LPDP.

I did not get accepted when I applied for jobs in so many hotels in Indonesia last few months - I cannot even remember how many hotels I applied - then Park Gstaad hotel in Switzerland gave me the opportunity to be a HK Supervisor here, I cannot even speak German or French and there are so many people who speak French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and English, but they picked me to be a Supervisor - no one in my school has ever got a job to be a supervisor in hotel especially in 5 star hotel and in Switzerland - but me? Sometimes I asked myself “why me? Is this real?”

I had been looking for a job or an opportunity to learn different departments in a hotel especially Revenue Management since March 2017 but I didn’t get anything, until today and it is from Hilton in Miami, Florida!

So trust me if I say great things do not come easily. All these experiences I share, took sweats, tears and hard work also lots of prayers.

You only need to keep fighting for your own dreams and not letting yourself to dream big but act less.

You don’t need to be smart to chase your dream or to make your dream comes true because I am not a smart person, I am just an average woman who was raised and grew up in a small island. I just learn to not give up so easily and put my effort on everything I want to achieve.

Your attitude, the way how you help people and the way how you treat people also will help you to get to your dreams.

I know I am not a motivator or a success person, but I hope you get motivated by reading this and encourage to chase your dream, you are never gonna be too old to chase your dream, you can stop chasing your dreams only if you are not breathing anymore. .
