CCIP:Volunteer

It has been long time since last time I posted something here. I have wanted to post all my activities here in the U.S since I arrived but unfortunately I could not because of the super duper busy schedule. But now even I am tired I just cannot stop to type and share my story for all my friends in Indonesia. 

I want to share my amazing experience today with my friends Juan and Tahira. Juan is from Costa Rica and Tahira is from Pakistan. I spend most of my time with them. Today at 4 we left our campus to get to the UMOM NewDay Center for volunteering which is called "Read to Me". Read to Me is a project of volunteering where we read books for kids from 4-17 years old. Today was actually our second time to do volunteer for Read to Me program. 

So Juan, Tahira and I left Scottsdale Communityy College at 4 PM. We did not know how to get to the address which we got from the volunteer organization because we had never been to that place. We asked the bus driver about the adress, he said he would tell us when we would be arrive in our first stop. we spent about 1 hour and 20 mins on the bus. While we were on the bus, when the bus got full, There was a grandma who was standing in front of us because there was no seat at all. Tahira and I did not notice her, But Juan did. He stood up and asked the grandma to have a sit on his seat. I was surprised to see that. 

I thought nobody would care about it. Juan let the grandma to have a seat and he just stood for almost 40 minutes. I felt so proud of him. Proud that my friend cares about other people when some people might ignore about it. I feel so glad to have a friend like him. Thanks God for that.

After spending 1 and 20 mins, We got out of the bus when the driver told us so. He told us to get a train to go to the Van Buran Street. Juan, Tahira and I walked for about 6 mins from the bus stop and it was so hot. it was about 106 Fahrenheit and I was fasting. We arrived at the train station at 5.30. We took the train to the Van Buren street. But because we had no idea about the adress, again we asked a man on the bus about the adress. He told us to get out of the train at the last stop. Three of us were confused about it. Everytime the train stopped, we thought that it was our stop. A man saw us with our confusions, and he told us not to worry because he also would go to the Van Buren street. We were so happy that time. When we got out of the train, the man showed us to go to the bust stop to catch the bus that would go to the address where we wanted to go.

We walked for about 4 mins to get to the bus stop and needed to wait the bus for about 30 mins. Finally the bus came at 6 pm. We took last bus to the address for volunteering. But at that time we still did not know where the address was. We just got into the bus and showed the bus driver the address. He said he knew about it. That time I felt little bit worried because we might be late for volunteer although we sent text to the leader of the Read to Me project to let her know that we would be late. I felt so thirsty. Juan and Tahira sat far from me. I sat beside of a beautiful young girl who finally became our guide. I asked her about the adress whethere she knew or not. She said she actually lived in that area. after sepending 15 mins, finally we arrived in our destination, the girl, her mom and her brother showed us where the place was. They were so nice.

will have to wake up for Sahur and will have early morning ESL Class.
